An extensive 60-day journey circling Australia is being halted following the tragic passing of an older woman who was left behind by the cruise liner on a isolated coastal location.

The passenger had been hiking on Lizard Island with other travelers from the Coral Adventurer, but broke off from the excursion for a rest. The vessel sailed away leaving her and went back after some time after the crew discovered the lady was missing.

A major hunt found her body the subsequent day.

Authorities are investigating the event, in coordination with investigators and the state coroner.

The CEO of the shipping company said that guests and crew on the ship were told that the rest of the cruise had been cancelled due to the "sad loss and previous engine troubles".

Through an announcement, he mentioned that passengers would be issued a complete reimbursement, and said the organization was working "to organize the travel back of the passengers via specially arranged planes".

Officials also issued an updated communication, and said they had "delivered a order to the Master" banning any additional guests from boarding the vessel.

Via her announcement, she described her mother as an "active elderly person" who was a member of a bushwalking organization.

"Based on limited facts we have been told, it seems that there was a lapse of responsibility and ordinary reasoning," she mentioned.

She further stated that she wished the inquiry would be able to pinpoint what "the operator should have undertaken that might have protected Her existence".

"Based on information from the authorities that it was a exceptionally warm afternoon, and mum fell ill on the hill climb," she explained.

"She was asked her to go back, alone. Then the vessel departed, reportedly without conducting a passenger count.

Organization Response

Through an announcement, the Head affirmed that the organization was "cooperating fully with officials to aid their examination".

He said that the firm was "deeply sorry that this has happened" and had extended its complete assistance to the relatives.
